The boy. A photographic essay from 1964. #3

This is an old photo book just showing boys at play and at school back in the 1960’s. It is a beautiful compilation of very innocent photos, but truly captures visually and in spirit what it is sort of like to be a boy – If you are a male of that era, memories will just come cascading back. Enjoy part 3!

  1. This was a difficult series for me to look at. The boy in the picture was a friend of mine. His story was very tragic. His family was wealthy and well known in our city. His father was a District Attorney and Judge, He was never there for Willy, except to pull Willy out of a lot of legal trouble with drugs. Willy wound dealing with drug addiction, prison and and brain damage from a beating he got because of dealing drugs. The last I knew he’d cleaned up but has the brain damage to deal with.
It reminds me that all the pictures we see have back stories.
